I am very proud to say I am a Sandpoint native – born and raised. My grandparents moved to Sandpoint from Upton, WY in the 30’s and made a life for us in “God’s country.” Every time I go to a family reunion in Upton, I am reminded of how good we really do have it here. Dad started his own construction company in 1963 seeing the liberty and prosperity of business ownership. My parents raised us kids on huckleberries, venison, and skiing Schweitzer. Dad taught us how to hunt and fish; Mom taught the family how to race down snow covered slopes starting the year after Schweitzer opened for business. After graduating from high school, I pursued a track career at North Idaho College and graduated with my AS in Biology, then received athletic scholarships to Boise State University in track and field. There, I graduated with a BA in Literature. After college I desired to make my office a tent, my briefcase a backpack and my commute to work a trail in the mountains. I worked as a guide and at-risk youth counselor in North Idaho for several years before moving to Portland, OR. In Portland I taught wilderness survival and rock climbing for Mount Hood Community College and started a small guide company. Eventually, after years of 45 minute commuting I couldn’t resist the draw of my home town. I came home to be closer to family and the mountains of my youth. For the last several years I have been lucky enough to build custom homes with Orin Miller and learned a great deal about the importance of quality home building. I decided to make real estate my next and most important career move. I see the opportunity to use my intimate knowledge of North Idaho, my interpersonal skills, my knowledge of building and a desire to serve others to help people achieved one of the most important life goals – owning the home of their dreams in a great community. |
